No. 31010DT is a straight "Limerick" hook. They are formed from round wire, and if straightened they can usually be formed back to the proper shape.
No. 31010DThas a special coating for rust resistance, but face it folks these are price leaders. If you are going out for a weekend fishing trip or if you loose them fast these hooks are okay. But if you fish long and hard you need to consider a better hook.

No. 34081-DT and No. 34009-SS are straight "O'Shaughnessy" hooks. They are forged to the proper shape and are very strong. (These are the hooks with the flat sides.) Due to being forged these hooks are very hard to straighten, and if you do straighten one it is almost sure to break if you try to return it to its proper shape. We think the No. 34081-DT is one of the best buys you can find in trotline hooks. Most fishermen get a full fishing season out of this hook. If you fish a lot, but occasionally lose a line, this is the hook for you. No. 34009-SS is our top of the line stainless steel for the fisherman that demands the best. If you fish year after year and don't lose too many lines this is the hook for you.

Circle Hooks

#39977DT is a long shank offset.

A lot of fishermen that have never used a circle hook comment that they don’t see how a fish can get hooked on this hook. But after using them, a lot of people don’t want anything else. No. 39960ST-DT is a straight hook, No. 39965-DT is slightly kirbed. The 11/0 hooks have 1/2" gap which is required in some areas.

#39965DT is Duratin plated.

Alligator Fishing Method with Hook and Line

• Suspend hook and line above water, 1 to 2 feet.
• Use about 30 feet of line, of 300 lb test or more.
• Use a clothes pin to hold the line, for easy line removal by the alligator.
• Coil the remainder of the line, at the base, to prevent tangling.
• Dispatch the alligator immediately.
