These nets are sold mostly on the east coast. Fishermen are using them to catch shad to bait hooks for big blue cats. On the east coast the floating type nets are by far more popular because they are sitting with the net and watching it and also because they are setting them on the sand bars where the shad are on top of the water. Outside of that use, the sinking nets are by far more popular due to people needing to put the net out and allow for boat traffic to cross over the net without getting caught in it.
