Experimental or Sampling Gill Nets

Gill nets various sizes
Government agencies, biologist, and researchers use these nets to sample fish populations. These nets, normally consisting of several panels of different mesh and twine sizes, are fished horizontally and can be modified to fish vertically.

Trawls

Trawl netTrawls are large funnel-shaped nets that are pulled behind a boat to β€œfunnel” the fish into the cod or rear end of the net. Trawls can be used on the bottom, mid-water, or on the surface. Trawls are used for many species of fish and shrimp.

We can build the Tilapia Seines with 2 ft. skirts to keep Tilapia from jumping over the net to your specifications.

Trap/Fyke Nets

Trap/Fyke Nets
These nets are available with round, square, rectangular, or β€œD” shaped hoops. Guided by a series of leads and wings, fish enter the trap through the mouth, swim through the throats, and cannot escape.

Although similar to trap/fyke nets in design and function, pound nets are generally much larger. These nets are usually fished on the surface and can be modified to fish on the bottom

Block-off Nets

Block-off nets are used to prevent fish from escaping or entering a certain area. The netting acts as a wall or a fence to restrict the movement of fish. The floats are normally encased in a sleeve to prevent the fish from escaping
between the floats.

Tail Race/Recovery Nets

Tail Race/Recovery Nets
These nets are used primarily for mortality studies of the fish population at hydroelectric dams. The nets usually have an outer liner for strength and an inside liner to protect the fish. The fish are collected in a live box at the cod end of the net.
